Lavender Simple Syrup ๐Ÿ‹

Lavender simple syrup is perfect for cocktails, spritzers, lemonade, coffee, herbal or chai teas. Not only is it a beautiful color & unique in flavor with its floral notes, but lavender is known for its calming effects.
Lavender Martini: 2 1/2 oz top shelf Vodka (Grey Goose), 1/2 oz dry vermouth, 1 1/2 oz lavender simple syrup, squeeze fresh lemon juice. Fill martini glass with ice to chill & set aside. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes & pour in the ingredients. Shake well for at least 10 seconds. Remove ice from martini glass & strain your martini into the glass from the shaker. Garnish with a lemon twist & a few sprigs of fresh lavender. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

2 cups water

2 cups sugar (you can also reduce sugar by half & add honey)

2 heaping tablespoons of culinary lavender

Handful of fresh or frozen blueberries (for color)

To Make:

Mix together water & sugar & add to a small saucepan on medium high heat

Add lavender & blueberries

Note: There are a few different things you can add besides blueberries to get your desired color. If you donโ€™t have blueberries, blackberries work too & of course food coloring always works. Another trick is to add a purple popsicle (fun pops work great!)

Bring syrup to a boil, making sure to whisk the sugar with the water until it dissolves

Lower heat and let simmer for 10 minutes

Remove from heat & allow to cool (15-20 minutes)

Once your syrup has cooled, use a strainer to remove the lavender. I recommend doing this a couple of times and adding a coffee filter to the strainer to ensure all the lavender is removed

Use a funnel to transfer your syrup to a container you can use to store the syrup in the fridge (mason jar, oil or vinegar bottle or anything that seals well)

Store up to two weeks in the fridge.
